Ingredients
- 1 lb puff pastry thawed according to package instructions
- 1 tbsp all-purpose flour (optional)
- 1 1/4 lb granny smith apples
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/8 tsp salt
- 1 egg+ 1 tbsp water for egg wash
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 1/2 tbsp heavy whipping cream
Steps
- Heat the oven to 400 F and line a baking sheet with parchment.
- Peel and dice the apples, then cook them with butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt in a skillet over medium heat for 8 minutes.
- Roll the thawed pastry on a lightly floured surface and cut it into eight squares.
- Spoon the cooled apples onto the squares, fold them into triangles, and press the edges closed.
- Brush the turnovers with the egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water, then bake on the baking sheet for 20 to 25 minutes.
- Whisk the powdered sugar with the cream and drizzle it over the warm turnovers.
