- 1 3/4 cup all-purpose flour

- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp cream of tartar
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 cups packed light brown sugar
- 3/4 cup salted butter
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 1 cup diced apples
- 1/4 cup chopped almonds
- 6 tbsp salted butter
- 2/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup chopped almonds
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
Steps
- Heat the oven to 350 F and grease an 8-inch square baking pan with cooking oil.
- Whisk flour, baking powder, cinnamon, cream of tartar, and salt in a bowl.
- Beat brown sugar and 3/4 cup butter, then mix in eggs and vanilla for 3 minutes.
- Stir in the dry mixture and apples, then spread the batter in the prepared pan.
- Mix 6 tablespoons butter, flour, sugar, almonds, and cinnamon into streusel crumbs.
- Scatter the streusel over the batter and bake for 28 minutes, until the center is firm.
