Ingredients
- 3/4 cup butter
- 1 package cake yeast
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/4 cup lukewarm milk
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp lemon extract
- 1 egg
- 2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/3 cup butter
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 pinch cinnamon
- 1/2 egg white
Steps
- Dissolve cake yeast in warm water and milk, then rest for five minutes.
- Stir in sugar, salt, lemon extract, egg, and flour to form a dough.
- Knead in three-quarter cup butter until smooth, then cover and chill for two hours.
- Roll the dough into a rectangle on a lightly floured surface.
- Spread the remaining butter over the dough, then sprinkle on brown sugar, salt, and cinnamon.
- Fold and shape the dough into a ring on a baking sheet, then let it rise for one hour.
- Brush with egg white and bake at 375 F for 25 to 30 minutes, until golden and firm.
