Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lb raw extra-large shrimp
- 1/3 cup flour
- 1 tsp each salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 3 large eggs
- 2 cups panko bread crumbs
- canola oil or vegetable if pan frying or deep frying
- 3/4 cup asian sweet chili sauce
- 3 tbsp reduced sodium soy sauce
- 2 tbsp red wine vinegar
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp asian chili sauce (optional)
Steps
- Stir the sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, red wine vinegar, honey, and optional chili sauce in a small saucepan.
- Simmer the sauce over medium heat for 5 minutes, stirring twice.
- Season the shrimp with salt and pepper, then set out the flour, beaten eggs, and panko in separate bowls.
- Coat each shrimp in flour, egg, and panko.
- Heat 1 inch of canola or vegetable oil in a 12-inch skillet to 350 F.
- Fry the shrimp in batches for 2 to 3 minutes per side, until golden and 145 F, then toss with the warm sauce.
