Ingredients
- 2 packages (1/4 oz) active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm 2% milk
- 1/2 cup butter
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 5/8 to 3-3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 large egg plus 1 large egg yolk
- 4 cups shredded muenster cheese
- 1 large egg white
Steps
- Stir the yeast and sugar into warm milk, then rest the mixture for 5 minutes.
- Mix in the melted butter, salt, egg, egg yolk, and enough flour to make a soft dough.
- Knead the dough for 5 minutes, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for 20 minutes.
- Roll the dough into a rectangle, spread the muenster cheese over it, and roll it into a log.
- Place the log in a greased 9-by-5-inch loaf pan, brush it with egg white, and rest it for 10 minutes.
- Heat the oven to 375 F and bake for 25 to 30 minutes until golden and the center reaches 165 F.
