- 2 refrigerated pie crusts
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup old-fashioned oats
- 1/2 cup dark brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 6 tbsp butter
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 4 lb apples
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp brandy
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Steps
- Heat the oven to 375 F and fit one pie crust into a 9-inch tart pan or pie dish.
- Peel and slice the apples, then toss them with the granulated sugar, cornstarch, brandy, vanilla, salt, and cinnamon.
- Melt 4 tablespoons butter in a large skillet over medium heat, add the apples, and cook for 10 minutes.
- Mix the flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, and remaining butter with your fingers until crumbly.
- Fill the crust with the apple mixture and scatter the crumble over the top.
- Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, until the crust is golden and the filling bubbles.
- Cool the tart for 10 minutes before slicing.
