Ingredients
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 8 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 tsp granulated sugar
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 4 large eggs
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- vegetable oil or canola oil
Steps
- Heat 2 inches of oil in a deep skillet to 350 F.
- Bring the water, milk, butter, 1 teaspoon sugar, and salt to a simmer in a medium saucepan.
- Stir in the flour until a thick dough forms, then cook for 2 minutes while stirring.
- Cool the dough for 5 minutes, beat in the eggs one at a time, and mix until smooth.
- Pipe 4-inch strips into the hot oil, frying in batches for 3 to 4 minutes per side until golden and firm.
- Mix the remaining sugar with the cinnamon, drain the churros briefly, and roll them in the cinnamon sugar.
