- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cups sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1/3 cup canola oil
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 3 cups chopped peeled tart apples
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 tbsp chopped walnuts
- 1/3 cup cold butter
Steps
- Heat the oven to 350 F and grease a 9-by-5-inch loaf pan with cooking oil.
- Whisk the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, baking soda, and cinnamon in a large bowl.
- Stir the eggs, applesauce, oil, and vanilla into the dry mixture, then fold in the chopped apples.
- Mix the topping flour, sugar, walnuts, and cold butter until crumbly.
- Spread the batter in the pan and sprinkle the topping evenly over it.
- Bake for 50 minutes, then cool the bread in the pan for 5 minutes.
