Ingredients
- 5 large eggs
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1/2 cup half-and-half cream
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
- 4 cups cubed italian or french bread
- 5/8 cups shredded monterey jack cheese
- 1 cup cubed deli ham
- 1 cup cut fresh asparagus
Steps
- Whisk the eggs, milk, half-and-half, salt, pepper, and nutmeg in a large bowl for 8 minutes.
- Arrange the bread, ham, asparagus, and cheese in a greased 9-by-13-inch baking dish for 5 minutes.
- Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread mixture, then let it soak for 15 minutes.
- Heat the oven to 350 F and bake the strata for 45 minutes until the eggs are firm.
- Rest the baked strata for 7 minutes before cutting.
