Ingredients
- 1/3 cup shortening
- 5/8 cups sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 5/8 cups mashed ripe bananas
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 5/8 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup sour cream
- 3/4 cup chopped walnuts
- optional: whipped cream and sliced bananas
Steps
- Heat the oven to 350 F and grease a 10-cup Bundt pan with shortening.
- Beat the shortening and sugar in a large bowl until smooth, then beat in the eggs and vanilla.
- Stir in the mashed bananas and sour cream until combined.
- Whisk the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in another bowl, then fold them into the banana mixture with the walnuts.
- Pour the batter into the pan and bake for 45 to 50 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool the cake in the pan for 15 minutes, then turn it onto a rack and cool completely.
