Ingredients
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1/3 cup popping corn
- 100 g / 7 tbsp butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup corn syrup
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
Steps
- Heat the oven to 250 F and grease a large baking sheet with cooking oil.
- Heat the oil in a large covered pot, add the popping corn, and shake until popping nearly stops.
- Melt the butter in a saucepan, then stir in the brown sugar, corn syrup, and salt and boil for 5 minutes.
- Remove the caramel from the heat and stir in the vanilla and baking soda.
- Pour the caramel over the popcorn, spread it on the baking sheet, and bake for 40 minutes, stirring twice.
- Cool the popcorn for 15 minutes before breaking it into pieces.
