- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 2 tbsp margarine
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
- 1 cup margarine or 1 cup butter
- 2 cups firmly packed brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup coconut
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 pinch salt
Steps
- Heat the oven to 350 F and lightly oil a 9-by-13-inch baking pan.
- Melt the chocolate chips, 2 tablespoons margarine, and condensed milk in a saucepan over low heat, stirring until smooth.
- Beat 1 cup margarine, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla in a large bowl until blended.
- Stir in the flour, coconut, pecans, and salt, then spread half the batter in the pan.
- Spread the chocolate mixture over the batter, cover it with the remaining batter, and smooth the top.
- Bake for 30 minutes, then cool the bars in the pan for 15 minutes before cutting.
