- 3/4 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 5 tbsp cold unsalted butter
- 2/3 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 large egg
- 5/7 cup heavy cream
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tbsp demerara sugar
Steps
- Heat the oven to 425 F and line a baking sheet with parchment.
- Whisk cake flour, salt, baking powder, and granulated sugar in a large bowl.
- Rub in the cold butter until the mixture forms coarse crumbs, then stir in the chocolate chips.
- Whisk the egg, cream, and vanilla together, then stir them into the flour mixture until a soft dough forms.
- Pat the dough into a 1-inch-thick round, cut it into eight wedges, and place them on the baking sheet.
- Brush the tops with cream, sprinkle with demerara sugar, and bake for 14 to 16 minutes.
