Ingredients
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1/2 cup butter
- 2 eggs
- 1 3/4 cups flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup quick cooking oats
- 1 3/4 cups boiling water
- 1 bags (12 oz) chocolate chips
- 6 tbsp butter
- 6 tbsp milk
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 5/8 cup chocolate chips
- 5/8 cup mini marshmallows
Steps
- Heat the oven to 350 F and grease a 9-by-13-inch baking pan with cooking oil.
- Pour the boiling water over the oats and let them stand for 5 minutes.
- Beat the butter, brown sugar, white sugar, and eggs, then mix in the flour, baking soda, salt, cocoa, and soaked oats.
- Fold in the 12-ounce bag of chocolate chips, spread the batter in the pan, and bake for 30 to 35 minutes.
- Melt the remaining butter, milk, sugar, and chocolate chips in a saucepan over low heat for 4 minutes.
- Spread the topping over the warm cake, add the mini marshmallows, and bake at 400 F for 2 to 3 minutes until lightly browned.
