Ingredients
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 2 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1 tsp salt
- 12 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter
- 3 tbsp granulated sugar
- 2 1/4 tsp cinnamon
Steps
- Stir milk and lemon juice together and let the mixture stand for 5 minutes.
- Heat the oven to 350 F and grease a twelve-cup muffin pan with cooking oil.
- Whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, nutmeg, and salt in a medium bowl.
- Beat 12 tablespoons butter and one cup sugar in a large bowl, then beat in eggs and vanilla.
- Stir in the milk mixture and dry mixture just until combined.
- Fill the muffin cups and bake for 18 to 20 minutes, then cool for 5 minutes.
- Melt 3 tablespoons butter, brush it over the muffins, and roll them in the remaining sugar mixed with cinnamon.
