Ingredients
- 3/4 cup butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp ground cloves
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 cups shredded peeled apples
- 1 cup diced peeled apples
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
- 1 batch brown sugar icing glaze
Steps
- Heat the oven to 350 F and butter a 9-by-13-inch baking pan.
- Beat the butter, sugar, and brown sugar until smooth, then beat in the eggs and vanilla.
- Whisk the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt in a separate bowl.
- Stir the dry mixture into the butter mixture, then fold in both apples and the pecans.
- Spread the batter in the pan and bake for 35 to 40 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool the cake for 10 minutes, then spread the brown sugar icing glaze over the top.
