Ingredients
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 onion
- 6 cloves garlic
- 1 can (14 1/2 oz) italian style diced tomatoes
- 1/2 cup chopped fresh basil
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
- salt and pepper
- 1/2 cup italian seasoned panko bread crumbs
Steps
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Cook the onion and garlic for 5 minutes, then add the tomatoes, salt, and pepper.
- Simmer the sauce uncovered for 8 minutes, then stir in the basil.
- Spread the sauce in a greased 9-by-13-inch baking dish and cover it with mozzarella and parmesan.
- Sprinkle the seasoned crumbs over the cheese and bake at 400 F for 12 minutes.
- Broil for 2 minutes until the topping is browned, watching closely.
