Ingredients
- 1 lb whole wheat spaghetti
- 6 tbsp butter + more for serving (optional)
- 8 cloves garlic
- 1 bunch basil
- 1 bunch baby spinach
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- parmigiano reggiano cheese for topping (optional)
Steps
- Boil salted water in a large pot and cook the spaghetti until tender, according to the package time.
- Reserve 1/2 cup pasta water, then drain the spaghetti.
- Melt the butter in the pot over medium heat and cook the garlic for 1 to 2 minutes.
- Add the spinach and cook for 2 minutes, until wilted.
- Return the spaghetti to the pot, add the pasta water, basil, salt, and pepper, and toss for 2 minutes.
- Top with optional butter and Parmesan before serving.
